Dodge City football picked up its first win of the season, taking down rival Garden City at home, 26-21, and the Conquistadors got contributions from all around. 
 
One performance for the Conqs earned recognition from the KJCCC, as Jahtavious Gaines was selected as the KJCCC Defensive "Player of the Week" after he had a 55-yard pick-six and four tackles. 
 
Gaines intercepted a pass in the second quarter and took it back 55 yards for a touchdown, putting the Conqs up 17-0. Gaines finished with four tackles and the interception as the Conqs defense held Garden City to 247 total yards and forced three turnovers. 
 
Conqs are back on the road this week as they take on #1 Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, Iowa with a 1:00 pm kickoff on Saturday, September 12^th.
