Men's Golf Finishes 17th at Nationals to Cap Season

Competing at nationals for the 36th straight year, the Dodge City men's golf team finished out their season in Newton, Kansas, at the NJCAA Division I National Championship. 

The Conquistadors capped the season finishing tied for 17th as a team at nationals, posting a team score of 1,246 (+94) over four rounds. Conqs started the tournament with a 308 in the first round, following that up with their best team round in the second round with a 297, and were in ninth place after each day. Days three and four saw the Conqs struggle a bit, posting rounds of 319 and 322 to finish out the year. 

Sophomore Drew Heinz led the Conqs at nationals, finishing tied for 36th after shooting a 304 (+16). Heinz started the tournament with an 80 in the first round but responded with a 73, 76, and 75. 

Panyapat Khantiyoo had a solid finish to his freshman year, tying for 46th place with a score of 307, after recording rounds of 74, 73, 83, and 77. Lucas Kuiper recorded a score of 313 to finish tied for 63rd place, posting rounds of 76, 73, 80, and 84. 

Blake Strong, behind a score of 322, placed 85th, shooting rounds of 78, 78, 80, and 86 over the tournament. 

Both Aidan Robinson and Jacob Egan each competed as well for the Conqs, but did not field a full four-round score. Robinson played in the first and second rounds with scores of 85 and 82 and then subbed back in for the fourth round, shooting an 88. Egan played in the third round, carding a round of 84. 

Conqs closed out their season competing for the 36th straight at nationals.
