April 08, 2026

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball, after over a week off, jumped back in the saddle with wins number 29 and 30 of the season, sweeping rival Garden City in a road doubleheader, 8-6 and 19-6.

The Conquistadors improved to 30-12 on the season with the wins and 12-4 in KJCCC action, while earning the season series sweep over Garden City for the first time since 2022. The 30 wins also mark the first time the program has won 30 or more games since the 2005 season.

Conqs continue a long stretch on the road when they travel to Goodland on Saturday, April 11th, and take on Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

Game 1 – Won 8-6 at Garden City
Jumping back into action after over a week off, the Conqs started a little slow on the road against Garden City, falling behind after the Bronbusters hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second. The Conqs responded in the third, scoring two runs, highlighted by an RBI single from Cadie McCracken. In the fourth, Riley Moore put the Conqs in front with an RBI single, but Garden City responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 3-3. The fifth saw the Conqs regain the lead as Kloe Nelson drove in a run on a groundout and then Karen Galaviz recorded an RBI single, making it 5-3.

An RBI double by Loren Sweat added to the Conqs' lead in the sixth; however, Garden City hit another two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 6-5 contest. In the seventh, the Conqs worked the bases loaded and added some insurance runs as two runs scored on a McCracken hit, making it 8-5. Looking for three outs to secure the win, the Conqs gave up a double and a single to open the bottom of the seventh before the Conqs induced a pop-up. The second out was a sacrifice fly, bringing in a run for Garden City, but the Conqs shut the door with a strikeout by Avery McCloskey to cap the game 8-6.

Conqs recorded 13 hits in the win, with four players posting a multi-hit game. McCracken was 3-5 with three RBI, while Galaviz added a 3-4 game with a run scored and an RBI. Sweat added a 2-4 game with a run scored, an RBI, a triple, and a double. Moore finished 2-4 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI.

Game 2 – Won 19-6 at Garden City (5 innings)
The Conqs dominated game two with plenty of offense, scoring 19 runs on 18 hits, marking the most runs scored in a game against rival Garden City since April 8th, 2021, when the Conqs scored 21 in a win over the Broncbusters. The long ball got the party started for the Conqs as McCracken belted a solo home run to start the scoring in game two, and Jordyn Boxberger blasted a two-run home run later in the first, giving the Conqs a 3-0 lead. Garden City plated three runs in the bottom of the first to pull even after one inning. In the second inning, the Conqs grabbed firm control of the game, scoring five runs starting with an RBI single from Moore, and then McCloskey blasted a grand slam to make it 8-3. Three straight singles opened the third for the Conqs, and then a walk drove in the first of six runs in the inning. A two RBI double by Moore and a solo home run by McCloskey highlighted the six-run third, leading to a 14-3 Conqs lead.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Conqs had another offensive outburst in the fifth, scoring five more runs and then looking to cap the game early via run rule in the bottom of the fifth.
