For the first time since 2022, the Dodge City softball team had a player earn NJCAA Division I Player of the Week honors.
After getting the nod as KJCCC DI Player of the Week, sophomore
Riley Moore was selected as NJCAA DI Softball Player of the Week.
Moore last week went 10-16 from the plate, hitting .625 with seven runs scored, four doubles, two triples, seven RBI, a walk, and four stolen bases in four games. The Conqs went 4-0 last week, beating Garden City and Fort Hays Tech Northwest twice each on the road.
In the doubleheader with Garden City, she posted a 2-4 game with an RBI, a double, and a run scored in game one, while following that up by going 3-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored in game two. In the series with Tech, she went 1-3 with an RBI, a walk, a run scored, and two stolen bases in game one, while she had a 4-4 game in game two against Tech with an RBI, three runs scored, two stolen bases, a double, and two triples.
Moore has played in 45 of the team's 46 games this season and is hitting .377 with 57 hits, 43 RBI, 20 walks, 14 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 54 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases.
Moore surpassed 100 career runs scored, becoming only the third player in program history to accomplish that, and is currently third all-time in career runs scored. She also ranks in the top 10 in school history in single-season runs scored and triples already for this season, with a chance to break into the top 10 in several other categories. She has also broken into the top 10 in multiple other career categories, along with runs scored, including stolen bases, home runs, doubles, and RBI.
The Conqs are back home on Saturday, April 18th, to take on Hutchinson in a top KJCCC clash with a doubleheader starting at 4:00 pm.
