Dodge City men's basketball split their action on the week, picking up a road win over Colby (80-71) and falling to Coffeyville at home (98-86) to move to 15-8 on the season.
The Conquistadors remained in the latest NJCAA Division I national rankings as they slipped five spots to #24 in the latest poll. The Conqs have now been ranked for six straight weeks. Only one other KJCCC team joins the Conqs in the polls this week as Butler comes in at #17, while Barton is receiving votes.
The Conqs are averaging 83.7 points per game on 44.4% shooting, as they continue to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line, a key piece of their offensive attack. The Conqs average 21.4 made free throws per game, which is second in the NJCAA, and average 28.3 free throw attempts per game, ninth in the NJCAA, while shooting 75.4% as a team from the line (eighth in the NJCAA).
Defensively, the Conqs are giving up 84.5 points per game on 41.9% shooting but protecting the rim with 4.9 blocks per game which ranks 17th in the NJCAA.
Seven games remain in the regular season as the season continues on Wednesday, February 11th, against Hutchinson on the road at 7:30 pm, and then the Conqs will be back home on Saturday, February 14th, at 3:00 pm versus Pratt.
