Baseball Drops a Tough Contest Versus #18 San Jacinto

February 03, 2026

Dodge City baseball road trip continued in Texas to start the season as the Conquistadors took on #18 San Jacinto in Houston.

The Conquistadors, despite a solid start, struggled to stay with San Jacinto, falling 14-4 in seven innings as the Ravens took advantage of several free passes.

The day started strong for the Conqs with Hunter Morgan drawing a walk to open the game and advancing to third on a steal and passed ball before scoring on a Jonah Andrade sacrifice fly to give the Conqs the early 1-0 lead. Conqs would make it 2-0 as Ty Hamilton belted a solo home run in the first as well. The bottom of the first was a struggle for the Conqs, giving up a single to open the inning, followed by three straight walks to get San Jacinto on the board. San Jacinto added four more runs on a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly to lead 5-2 after one inning. After San Jacinto tallied another run in the second, the Conqs would get back on the board in the third, as Morgan led off the inning with a triple and scored on a groundout by Andrade.

San Jacinto continued to score, plating a run in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth to lead 14-3 entering the seventh inning. Needing runs to stay in the game, the Conqs continued to fight, getting a double by Nic Cipolla to lead off the seventh and then an RBI single by Angel Vazquez to scratch a run across, but ultimately fell 14-4 in seven innings.

Conqs had just six hits but three for extra bases as Hamilton was 1-3 with a home run, Morgan was 1-3 with two runs scored, a triple, and a walk, and Cipolla was 1-1 with a run scored and a double. Ben Longoria, Preston Harrison, and Vazquez each tallied a hit.

On the mound, the Conqs struggled with giving up the free pass, surrendering 12 walks to go along with 12 hits by San Jacinto.

Conqs are in action for the third straight day to open the 2026 season as they travel to Brenham, Texas, to take on #2 Blinn in a single nine-inning matchup at 2:00 pm.
