Box Score 2 Dodge City softball had the privilege of competing at Oklahoma State University on the Cowgirls' field in Stillwater, Oklahoma, as they played #1 NJCAA Division II Murray State in a doubleheader at OSU.
The Conquistadors struggled to get the offense going and fell 9-1 and 8-0 both in five innings, moving to 6-6 on the season.
The Conqs will be back at home on Thursday, February 26th, for a rescheduled doubleheader against Otero starting at 1:00 pm.
Game 1 – Lost 9-1 vs Murray State (5 innings)
The day started strong for the Conqs as
Avery McCloskey belted a solo home run in the first inning and the Conqs grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Murray State countered quickly, plating six in the bottom of the first to grab control, leading 6-1 after the first inning. Murray State added a run in the second and two more in the fourth, while the Conqs managed just one more hit and a few walks, but were unable to score again, falling 9-1 in five innings.
McCloskey was 1-3 with a home run, runs scored, and RBI, while
Harley Shoaf recorded the lone other Conq hit in the contest, going 1-2. In the circle, McCloskey tossed 3.1 innings, and
Jordyn Boxberger threw 0.2 innings.
Game 2 – Lost 8-0 vs Murray State (5 innings)
The offensive struggles continued in game two for the Conqs as they managed just one hit and four walks for five base runners. Conqs found themselves down early as Murray State scored five in the first inning and then added three in the fourth, going on to secure the game at 8-0 in just five innings.
Cadie McCracken was 1-1 with a walk in the loss, and the Conqs drew three more walks.
Karli George tossed three innings of work, and Boxberger threw the final inning.
