The Dodge City men's golf team traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to continue the fall season as they competed at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate hosted by Iowa Western CC.
The Conquistadors would finish in third place as a team with a three-round score of 902 (+38). After going 307 (+19) in the first round, the Conqs turned around and had a strong second round, improving by 12 strokes from the first round with a 295 (+7). Conqs wrapped up the tournament with a 300 (+12) third round.
Leading the way for the Conqs was the play of
Panyapat Khantiyoo, who was consistent throughout the tournament, posting rounds of 73, 74, and 72, going +1, +2, and even. His score of 219 (+3) earned him a sixth-place finish.
Drew Heinz had the second-best finish for the Conqs, carding a 227 (+11) to finish 21st in the second tournament of the fall. Heinz had his best round in the second round with a 71 (-1) while notching a 78 in the first and third rounds.
Aidan Robinson posted a score of 228 (+12), carding rounds of 73, 78, and 77 to finish 24th, while
Prakrit Jumpla placed 31st with a score of 231 (+15) to finish 31st, improving over the course of the tournament with rounds of 82, 75, and 74.
Joao Iglesias finished with rounds of 83, 76, and 73 to put together a score of 232 (+16) to place 34th.
Behind a score of 239 (+23), Jake Egan finished 47th overall, shooting rounds of 84, 74, and 81, while
Will Davies finished with a score of 267 (+51), posting rounds of 87, 87, and 93.
Conqs will have a week off before hitting the links again as they will compete at the Grier Jones Invitational hosted by Wichita State at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas, on October 5th-7th.
