Dodge City baseball wrapped up the regular season taking the series over Seward County winning three of four and picked up a win over McCook last week to go 4-1 on the week. Conquistadors had several great performances during the series, but the performance of
Will David and
MD Conner earned them KJCCC West Pitcher and Player of the Week.
In the series opener, David mastered his way around another KJCCC West lineup as he threw a complete game five-inning shutout. David allowed just two base runners in the game as part of a one-hit shutout on the mound while striking out three in the Conqs 10-0 win. On the year, David has seven wins with a 5.97 ERA in 12 appearances pitching 57.1 innings and recording 48 strikeouts.
Conner during the week would hit .667 with 10 hits, six doubles, eight runs scored, eight RBI, two walks, and four hit by pitches. Against McCook, Conner was 3-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and two doubles, while his top game in the series with Seward County was game three when he went 3-3 with three runs scored, five RBI, and two doubles. On the season, Conner is batting .390 with 48 hits, 46 RBI, 26 walks, seven home runs, 16 doubles, and 43 runs scored.
The Conqs are on the road in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 6/Plains District Playoffs as they will take on KCK in a best-of-three first-round series in Kansas City on May 7th-9th.
