The Dodge City rodeo program continues to look to the future and grow as a program. Head Coach
Jacob Perkey has made the latest addition to help guide the Conquistadors forward as he brought in
Colton Valenta as his assistant coach.
He comes to Dodge City after a college rodeo career that saw him compete at Wharton County Junior College and Sul Ross State University. He was a two-time tiedown roping director in the southwest region and short round qualifier in the southern and southwest regions. While Dodge City is his first coaching position, he has helped coach numerous kids with their roping skills since his senior year of high school, while also judging youth rodeos. Valenta earned his Bachelor of Science from Sul Ross State University.
"I hope to bring a winning attitude and confidence both in and out of the arena, while making the athletes feel like they're the best ever to compete. I'm excited to see the students' progress and become better competitors and people," said Valenta, describing the opportunity to coach at Dodge City and how he hopes to impact the program and athletes.
