For the second straight year, the Dodge City rodeo team is sending a bull rider to Casper, Wyoming for the College National Finals Rodeo in June, but in 2025 it won't be just one bull rider but two heading to Wyoming for the Conquistadors.
Kyle Cheney and
Tavi Ford both finish the rodeo season with 240 total points in bull riding competitions and tie for second place in the Central Region and the top three in the region qualify for the CNFR.
For the second straight year, Cheney has earned a top-three finish in the Central Region and a trip to Casper, Wyoming. During the season Cheney had his best showing at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo as he amassed 144 total points to win the bull riding competition posting a 70-point and 74-point ride. He had his best point ride at the Oklahoma State University Rodeo where he finished third with a 77-point ride.
Ford a freshman for the Conqs in his first season behind three top-five finishes during the season tied his teammate Cheney in points to earn a trip to Casper, Wyoming. His best ride was a 77-point ride at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo earning third place at the event. He took second at the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo behind a 73-point ride, while he also took fifth place at the Fort Hays State University Rodeo with a 71.5-point ride.
Both Cheney and Ford will compete at the CNFR in Casper, Wyoming which will take place June 14th-21st at the Ford Wyoming Center.
