Box Score 2 Dodge City softball started the final week of the regular season with a non-conference doubleheader against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and would fall 11-5 and 16-3 to the Mavericks.
The Conquistadors with the losses slip to 24-24 on the season with four games remaining all in KJCCC action.
The Conqs will take on Hutchinson on Wednesday, April 23rd at home for a KJCCC doubleheader and then wrap up the regular season in Liberal on Saturday, April 26th.
Game 1 – Lost 11-5 vs NOC-Tonkawa
The day would start with the Conqs falling behind early as Tonkawa would score two runs in the first and second innings. In the bottom of the fourth, a sacrifice fly by
Rylie Miller to drive in
Riley Moore put the Conqs on the board but down 4-1 after four innings. The top of the fifth saw Tonkawa bat around and score six runs to lead 10-1. The Conqs would push back in the bottom of the fifth with three runs as an RBI double by
Whitley Cash and two-RBI single by
Josie Oakley highlighted the inning. Each team had a solo home run in the sixth as
Campbell Anderson belted a home run for the Conqs. In the seventh the Conqs were able to generate a few base runners but unable to score falling 11-5.
In the loss,
Elly Tancayo was 2-3 with a run scored, a walk, and a double, while
Kloe Nelson was 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Moore added a 1-3 game with a run scored, two stolen bases, and a walk and Cash was 1-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Game 2 – Lost 16-3 vs NOC-Tonkawa
The second game of the doubleheader saw the Conqs fall behind early again but this time Tonkawa would bat around in the first scoring eight runs to take early control. The Conqs managed a run in the bottom of the first as Cash had a two-out double and then Oakley brought her in on a double. Tonkawa continued to score in the second added three runs and then scored five more in the third to lead 16-1. The Conqs would get on the board again in the fourth on a two-run home run by
Anistyn Marcotte but would be unable to get closer falling 16-3 in five innings.
Conqs had eight hits in the loss as Cash,
Karen Galaviz, and Oakley each had a double, while Marcott was 1-2 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored.
