Softball Grabs Pair of Conference Road Wins With Sweep of Fort Hays Tech

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball has their second-longest win streak of the season as they picked up a pair of road KJCCC wins over Fort Hays Tech Northwest 8-0 and 10-2. 

The victories move the Conquistadors to 24-20 on the season and 16-10 in KJCCC action. 

Four more doubleheaders remain in the regular season for the Conqs as they will host #16 Butler on Saturday, April 19th, and have home doubleheaders against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and Hutchinson, along with a road twinbill against Seward County. 

Game 1 – Won 8-0 at Fort Hays Tech Northwest (5 innings) 
The offense would come with a seven-run fifth inning in the contest and an early run on a home run but it was the pitching of Shyann Clark that dominated game one against Fort Hays Tech. The Conqs would get a solo home run by Elly Tancayo in the first inning and in the bottom of the inning Clark set Tech down in order striking out the first batter she faced. Clark would continue to go three-up-three-down throughout the contest. The Conqs grew the lead to 8-0 with seven runs in the fifth with RBI doubles by Riley Moore and Campbell Anderson highlighting the inning. In the fifth Clark shut the down sitting down Tech in order, securing the 8-0 win as she threw a perfect game. 

Clark earned the win her eighth of the season tossing scoreless five innings and did not give up a hit or walk while striking out four. 

Kloe Nelson was strong at the plate going 3-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Tancayo added a 2-4 game with two runs scored, two RBI, and a home run. 

Game 2 – Won 10-2 at Fort Hays Tech Northwest (6 innings) 
Just like the start of game one, it was Tancayo getting the Conqs on the board early again as she notched an RBI double in the first inning and the Conqs would get another RBI double by Rylie Miller in the inning, ultimately scoring three in the first. Tech would breakthrough themselves in the first scoring a pair of runs, but the Conqs countered with two in the second to lead 5-2. Tech would manage only five more base runners the rest of the game after scoring two in the first inning as the Conqs scored three in the fourth and two in the sixth going on to earn the 10-2 win in six innings. 

In the circle, Anistyn Marcotte tossed six strong innings giving up two runs on two hits and four walks, while striking out two. 

Miller paced the Conqs offense with a 2-3 game with a run scored, two RBI, and a double, while Moore added a 2-3 game with two runs scored. Anderson added a 1-2 game with two walks, two RBI, and a home run.
