Softball Splits Doubleheader at Colby

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball continued conference play traveling to Colby to take on the Trojans and it would be a pair of run-rule games with one in favor of each team giving the Conquistadors a split on the day. 
 
The Conqs split moves them to 19-17 on the season and 11-7 in KJCCC action and makes the Conqs 3-1 against the Trojans this season. 
 
Up next the Conqs take on rival Garden City on the road on Wednesday, April 2nd with the doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. 
 
Game 1 – Won 14-4 at Colby
The Conqs would give up an early run to the Trojans and fall behind in the first inning but in the second swung the lead their way as Riley Moore reached on an error and then Campbell Anderson belted a two-run home run. In the bottom of the third, the Conqs extended the lead with a nine-run outburst highlighted by RBI singles from Josie Oakley, Anistyn Marcotte, Kaylee Kinsinger, and Karen Galaviz, along with a three-run home run by Whitley Cash as the Conqs led 11-1. Colby would plate two runs in the third and one in the fourth, but the Conqs got a two-run homer by Anderson in the fifth along with another run, and led 14-4 entering the bottom of the fourth. Conqs shut the door in the bottom of the fifth working around a walk to secure the 14-4 win. 
 
Anderson, Cash, Kinsinger, and Marcotte paced a 12-hit attack for the Conqs as they each had a multi-hit game. It was a 2-4 game with two home runs, two runs scored, and four RBI for Anderson, while Marcotte was 3-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a double. Cash added a 2-4 game with three RBI, a home run, two runs scored, and a double. Kinsinger chipped in a 2-4 performance with a run scored and an RBI. 
 
Marcotte earned the win tossing four innings giving up just four runs on eight hits and two walks, while Shyann Clark tossed the final inning. 
 
Game 2 – Lost 10-2 at Colby
Early offense came for Colby again in game two as the Conqs fell behind early but unlike game one the Conqs were unable to get anything going with the bats. Colby plated two runs in the first, second, and third innings before the Conqs finally got on the board in the fourth with a solo home run by Moore. Conqs would get another run in the fifth on an RBI double by Galaviz, but Colby would score one in the fourth and three in the fifth to end the game at 10-2 in five innings. 
 
Conqs had just six hits in the game two loss with Galaviz going 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Moore added a 1-1 game with a home run, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. 
 
Both Clark and Jordyn Boxberger saw action inside the circle for the Conqs.
