Softball Continues Strong Play With Sweep of Seward County at Home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City grabbed a pair of KJCCC wins taking down Seward County at home 12-3 in five innings and 10-6. 

The Conquistadors with the doubleheader sweep improved to 18-16 on the season and 10-6 in KJCCC action, making them 14-2 at home. The Conqs have won three in a row against Seward County and seven of the last nine in the series. 

Conqs are on the road for more KJCCC action on Saturday, March 29th set for a doubleheader against Colby starting at 1:00 pm. 

Game 1 – Won 12-3 vs Seward County 
Conqs after working around two base runners by Seward County in the top of the first inning would bat seven in the bottom of the first on the way to scoring three runs. Riley Moore would drive in a pair of runs on a single in the first. Seward County answered in the second scoring three runs but would leave the bases loaded as the Conqs went to the bullpen for Shyann Clark to take over to finish the game. In the third, the Conqs got another run to regain the lead and then batted around in the fourth plating five runs highlighted by a two-RBI double from Josie Oakley and leading 9-3 after four. In the bottom of the fifth Whitley Cash belted a three-run home run finishing the game via the run-rule as the Conqs won 12-3. 

Clark earned the win in 3.1 innings of relief giving up no runs on two hits and one walk. At the plate, the Conqs produced 12 hits with a huge performance by Karen Galaviz who was 4-4 with three runs scored, two RBI, a home run, and a double. Cash added a 2-3 game with three runs scored, a home run, three RBI, and a walk, while Anistyn Marcotte was 2-3 with an RBI. 

Game 2 – Won 10-6 vs Seward County
Seward County would grab the initial lead of game two with a run in the first but the Conqs countered with two and then added to their lead with three runs in the third. Campbell Anderson blasted a two-run home run and Moore followed with a solo home run in the third to give the Conqs a 5-1 lead. Two more runs in the fourth made it 7-1 Conqs entering the fifth inning. Seward County didn't go away getting a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to make it a 7-5 contest. In the bottom of the sixth, the Conqs pushed back with three runs and would finish the game off to secure the 10-6 win. 

Frankie Martens earned the win in the circle tossing six strong innings, while Clark tossed the final inning. At the plate, the Conqs had 10 hits and got a multi-hit game from Oakley, Moore, and Kaylee Kinsinger. Oakley was 2-3 with two runs scored, and an RBI, while Moore was 2-4 with two runs scored, a home run, and two RBI. Kinsinger was 2-3 with a walk and three stolen bases.
