Dodge City men's golf opened the spring season competing at the Oakwood Intercollegiate in Enid, Oklahoma, against a strong field of NJCAA competition and multiple NAIA programs.
The Conquistadors would claim a seventh-place team finish with a three-round score of 898 (+46). Conqs would post rounds of 302, 296, and 300 for the tournament.
Rhys Nicholas's play led the Conqs individually. Nicholas finished with a 217 (+4) score for the tournament to tie for eighth place. Nicholas carded rounds of 71, 72, and 74.
The duo of
Luke Shelton and
Todd McKie each posted a score of 227 to tie for 32nd. Shelton posted rounds of 78, 74, and 75, while McKie shot rounds of 76, 76, and 75.
Both
Drew Heinz and
Colby Hays each finished with a score of 230 to tie for 46th place, as Heinz shot rounds of 80, 74, and 76, while Hays carded rounds of 82, 73, and 75.
Jack McKie was just behind his teammates in 48th place with a 231 score posting rounds of 76, 73, and 82.
Chutithep Rungpajchim also finished 48th along with McKie with a 231 score behind rounds of 75, 81, and 75.
Joao Iglesias capped the Conq performances shooting a 238 to tie for 71st with rounds of 77, 77, and 84.
The spring season continues for the Conqs at the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn University on April 7th-8th in Mayetta, Kansas at the Firekeeper Golf Course.
