Softball Splits Road Doubleheader Versus NOC-Tonkawa

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball started the week with some non-conference action traveling to Tonkawa to take on Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa for a doubleheader and would split. The Conquistadors fell 9-5 in game one and responded with a 12-4 win in six innings in game two. 
 
The split moves the Conqs to 16-16 on the season as they turn their attention back to conference play with a doubleheader at home on Wednesday, March 26th against Seward County starting at 2:00 pm. 
 
Game 1 – Lost 9-5 at NOC-Tonkawa 
The Conqs opened the day looking to take an early lead working the bases loaded in the first inning but could not score while NOC-Tonkawa tallied a run in the bottom of the first to give them the early lead. NOC-Tonkawa added a run in the second, but the Conqs would breakthrough in the third working the bases loaded and Rylie Miller would clear them with a double, and Josie Oakley would add an RBI single in the inning making it 4-2. The bottom of the third however would see NOC-Tonkawa answer back with a five-run frame and then tack on another run in the fifth and sixth innings each. A Karen Galaviz RBI single would get the Conqs on the board again in the sixth, but it would not be enough as the Conqs dropped game one 9-5. 
 
Conqs in the loss had 11 hits led by Galaviz who was 3-4 with a run scored and RBI. Whitley Cash added a 2-3 game with a run scored and a double, while Miller was 1-3 with three Rbi, a double, a run scored, and a walk. 
 
Anistyn Marcotte, Frankie Martens, and Shyann Clark each tossed two innings of action in the loss. 
 
Game 2 – Won 12-4 at NOC-Tonkawa
Conqs would rekindle some of their offensive success from the first game in game two pounding out 16 hits against NOC-Tonkawa to take game two. After a scoreless first two innings, the Conqs took the initial lead of game two behind an RBI double by Galaviz. After NOC-Tonkawa scored a run in the bottom of the third the Conqs had an offensive outburst in the fourth with seven runs starting with an RBI double by Dezarae Schmidt. The bottom of the fourth saw NOC-Tonkawa belt a two-run home run to make it 8-4 after four innings. Conqs tallied two more in the fifth and a Miller RBI single in the sixth gave the Conqs an eight-run lead entering the bottom of the sixth. Conqs held NOC-Tonkawa off the scoreboard in the sixth to secure the 12-4 win. 
 
Clark was strong inside the circle tossing all six innings giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five. 
 
Five Conqs had a multi-hit game in the win with three ladies recording a three-hit game. Galaviz was strong again going 3-5 with a double, a run scored, and four RBI, while Miller added a 3-4 game with a run scored and an RBI. Jordyn Boxberger finished with a 3-3 game with three runs scored, two RBI, and a double. Elly Tancayo chipped in a 2-4 showing with a run scored and RBI, while Kaylee Kinsinger was 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
