Softball Riding Eight Game Winning Streak After Sweep of Fort Hays Tech

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball continued to roll routing Fort Hays Tech Northwest 20-0 and 11-1 in a KJCCC doubleheader at home making it eight wins in a row for the Conquistadors. 
 
The Conqs put together an 8-0 week this past week improving to 14-12 on the season and 7-3 in KJCCC action. The wins also make it 16 in a row against Tech and 21 of the last 22 meetings in the series going the way of the Conqs. The eight game win streak is the longest since 2022. 
 
Up next the Conqs will be on the road for the next three doubleheaders with a pair of big KJCCC twinbills on the docket next against Butler and Hutchinson on Wednesday, March 19th, and Saturday, March 22nd, respectively. 
 
Game 1 – Won 20-0 vs Fort Hays Tech 
The Conqs would work out of an early jam in the top of the first as Tech would load the bases to start the day but would be unable to score. In the bottom of the first the Conqs plated two runs with an RBI double by Elly Tancayo and a sacrifice fly by Campbell Anderson bring in runs. The Conqs tacked on four more runs in the second and then scored for more in the third to lead 10-0. The fourth would see the Conqs bat around and score 10 runs with RBI doubles from Kloe Nelson, Jordyn Boxberger, and Rylie Miller. Tech would get a pair of runners in the top of the fifth, but the Conqs shut the door earning the 20-0 win. 
 
Frankie Martens tossed all five innings shutting out Tech giving up three hits and seven walks, while striking out four to earn the win. 
 
At the plate, Tancayo was 3-3 with a walk, three RBI, a double, while Karen Galaviz was 3-4 with a triple, three RBI, and four runs scored. Boxberger was 3-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Hannah Garcia added a 2-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, and a walk, while Nelson finished 2-2 with a walk, hit by pitch, three runs scored, and a walk. Josie Oakley and Whitley Cash each added a multi-hit game. 
 
Game 2 – Won 11-1 vs Fort Hays Tech 
The Conqs snagged the early lead in game two with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, but Tech responded by getting their first run of the day making it 2-1 headed into the bottom of the second. In the second the Conqs would bat around, and score three runs highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Tancayo. Conqs added another run in the third and then five more in the fourth with a two-RBI double by Paityn Tenbrink and two RBI triple from Boxberger highlighting the fourth. The Conqs would close the door in the fifth and earn the 11-1 win. 
 
Josie Oakley tossed all five innings to pick up the win in the circle as she gave up one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five. 
 
Tancayo and Boxberger had another multi-hit game each going 2-2 at the plate. Tancayo scored two runs and had two RBI, and a triple, while Boxberger had a double, a triple, and three RBI. Nelson was 1-1 with a double, two walks, and three runs scored.
