Softball Has Offensive Outburst in Doubleheader Sweep of Dakota College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball continued to roll as they put up 51 runs in a doubleheader against Dakota College at Bottineau winning 25-3 and 26-5 both in five innings. 

The victories give the Conquistadors a six-game winning streak and move them to 12-12 on the season. The Conqs have won 11 of the last 14 games this season. 

The home cooking continues for the Conqs on Sunday, March 16th with a doubleheader against Fort Hays Tech Northwest starting at 2:00 pm and will recognize the sophomores on Sunday for Sophomore Day. 

Game 1 – Won 25-3 vs Dakota College 
The table was set early for the Conqs as they got the offense rolling and would not look back as everyone available would see action in the game. In the bottom of the first the Conqs would bat around and score 10 runs getting the scoring started with back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles by Elly Tancayo, Whitley Cash, and Anistyn Marcotte and Cash would blast a grand slam later in the first. Conqs added 11 more runs in the second inning, which was highlighted by a three-run home run by Tancayo and Paityn Tenbrink each, while Cash belted a solo home run. In the third, the Conqs tallied two more runs to lead 23-0. Dakota College would get on the board in the fourth inning scoring a pair of runs, while the Conqs countered with two more in the bottom of the fourth and recorded the final three outs in the fifth to earn the 25-3 victory. 

Conqs had 22 hits in the win with six players recording multi-hit games and 12 players notching a hit in the win. Cash was 4-4 with six RBI, two home runs, a double, and three runs scored, while Marcotte went 3-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, and three RBI. Tancayo added a 3-3 game with four RBI, three runs scored, a home run, and a double. Jordyn Boxberger, Kaylee Kinsinger, and Kendal Ratzlaff each had two hits. 

Marcotte earned the win in the circle tossing three innings of scoreless action facing only 10 batters giving up just one hit, while Boxberger threw the final two innings. 

Game 2 – Won 26-5 vs Dakota College 
The second game of the day was much of the same for the Conqs as the offense got rolling again batting around in the first to score six runs with a two RBI single by Riley Moore and an RBI triple from Dezarae Schmidt. Conqs added eight more runs in the second inning as Schmidt notched an RBI double and Cash tattooed a three-run home run in the inning. The third would see Dakota College get on the third board with three runs but the Conqs countered with eight runs in the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the third, the Conqs would hit three home runs as Josie Oakley led the inning off with a solo home run, Karen Galaviz hit a two-run shot, and Cash tallied her fourth homer of the day with a two-run shot. Dakota College would tally two runs in the fourth, but the Conqs got four more in the fourth including a three-run home run by Campbell Anderson, and would then get the final three outs in the top of the fifth to earn the 26-5 win. 

Conqs recorded 24 hits with eight players having a multi-hit game and 10 recording a hit in the victory. Galaviz was 4-4 with three runs scored, three RBI, and a home run, while Moore added a 4-5 game with three RBI, three runs scored, and a triple. Oakley was 3-3 with four runs scored, a home run, a double, and three RBI and Cash went 3-5 with five RBI, three runs scored, a double, and two home runs. Tancayo, Schmidt, Tenbrink, and Anderson all had two hits in the win. 

Oakley picked up the win in the circle tossing three innings, giving up three runs on six hits, while Boxberger threw the final two innings of action.
