Box Score 2 Dodge City softball picked up two more wins on Wednesday topping KJCCC foe, Pratt in a doubleheader 9-1 in six innings and 11-3 in five innings.
The wins move the Conquistadors to 10-12 on the season and 5-3 in KJCCC action, while giving the Conqs a four-game winning streak and making it nine wins in the last 12 games. Conqs have won 29 of the last 30 meetings with Pratt.
Conqs continue a busy week on Thursday, March 13th as they will take on Dakota College at Bottineau who travels to Dodge City for a doubleheader coming from North Dakota.
Game 1 – Won 9-1 vs Pratt
The day opened up with Pratt taking the initial lead plating a run in the top of the first inning, but the Beavers would leave the bases loaded.
Frankie Martens would settle in for the Conqs in the circle and stymie the bats of Pratt the rest of the way as the Conqs kept Pratt off the board again and would score nine of their own runs. The Conqs' scoring started in the bottom of the second with a run on a bases-loaded walk drawn by
Kloe Nelson. In the third, a three-run home run by
Josie Oakley would give the Conqs a 4-1 lead which moved to 8-1 after a four-run fourth highlighted by a three RBI double from
Whitley Cash. In the sixth inning,
Anistyn Marcotte notched an RBI double to bring in the final run of the game and end the contest via run rule at 9-1.
Martens picked up the win in the circle tossing six innings giving up just one run on five hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out two.
Elly Tancayo led the Conqs offense going 3-3 with a walk, three runs scored, and an RBI. Oakley added a 2-3 game with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI, while Nelson was 1-2 with a run scored a walk, and RBI.
Game 2 – Won 11-3 vs Pratt
The offense started early for the Conqs in the second game of the doubleheader as the Conqs would bat around in the bottom of the first scoring six runs. A two-RBI double by Marcotte highlighted the first inning for the Conqs. Cash belted a solo home run to open the second inning and the Conqs would add another run in the frame to lead 8-0. In the top of the fourth Pratt would hit a pair of home runs to score three runs to cut into the Conqs lead but the Conqs answered in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by
Jordyn Boxberger and a two-run home run by
Riley Moore. The Conqs would shut the door in the top of the fifth ending the game on a double play to win 11-3 in five innings.
Shyann Clark was strong in the circle earning the win going four innings giving up three runs on three hits, two walks, and a hit batter, while striking out three. Boxberger tossed a scoreless fifth inning.
Cash was strong at the plate going 2-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and RBI, while Marcotte was 2-2 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored. Oakley went 2-2 with two runs scored and a walk.
