Women's Basketball Ranked #1 For Third Straight Week

Dodge City women's basketball continued their strong start to the 2025-26 season, improving to 8-0 on the season last week with a 97-71 road win over Cloud County. 
 
The Conquistadors, who took over the #1 spot in the NJCAA Division I rankings three weeks ago, remain atop the rankings this week, marking the third straight poll at #1. The Top 10 ranking in the 16-straight for the Conqs, while they have been ranked in 46 of the last 47 polls. 
 
On the season, the Conqs are getting offensive contributions from up and down the roster, with four players averaging double figures and 11 averaging over three points per game. As a team, the Conqs are averaging 84.1 points per game on 47.5% shooting as they make 30.8 field goals per game, all numbers that lead the KJCCC and rank in the Top 15 nationally. Conqs have been strong from three-point range, making 108 on the season (third most in NJCAA), which is 32 more than the second most in the KJCCC; they average 13.5 made threes per game on 35.6 threes attempted per game (both lead the NJCAA) while shooting 37.9% from distance (fifth best in the NJCAA). As seen by the balanced scoring, the Conqs share the ball well averaging 23.1 assists per game (third in the NJCAA), leading the KJCCC. 
 
Defensively, the Conqs are holding opponents to 52.4 points per game, the third lowest in the KJCCC. Opponents are just shooting 34.2% from the floor and 28.7% from three-point range, while the Conqs are forcing 21.9 turnovers. As the Conqs are third in the KJCCC in steals and blocks per game at 13.6 and 3.4, respectively. 
 
Four games remain before the holiday break as the Conqs will welcome Colby to town on Wednesday, December 3rd at 5:30pm, then cap the week against #25 Coffeyville on the road on Saturday, December 6th at 2:00pm. Then the Conqs will host #20 Hutchinson on Wednesday, December 10th at 5:30pm before heading into the break with a road game against Pratt on Saturday, December 13th at 2:00pm.
