Dodge City men's golf team traveled to Pueblo, Colorado to continue the fall season as the Conquistadors competed in their second tournament of the year finishing third at the Sam Proal Insurance Invitational hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo. 
 
The Conqs would start the tournament hot and finish the first round with a 283-team score going five-under to sit in second place by just one stroke. The second and third rounds would see the Conqs fall back from that first-round pace recording rounds of 289 (+1) and 298 (+10) to finish with a team score of 870 (+6) for the tournament to take third. 
 
Leading the Conqs was the play of Rhys Nicholas who posted a 213 (-3) score for the tournament to finish tied for fifth posting rounds of 71, 68 (-4), and 74. 
 
Joao Iglesias had another strong performance for the Conqs finishing tied for seventh with a score of 214 (-2) recording rounds of 70, 70, and 74. Luke Shelton posted a score of 216 (even) to finish 12th shooting rounds of 69, 74, and 73. 
 
Kolby Legg, Winston Knobloch, and Drew Heinz all competed for the Conqs to finish out the performances at the Sam Proal Insurance Invitational. Legg finished with a score of 227 recording rounds of 73, 73, and 81, while Knobloch posted a 230 score shooting rounds of 73, 77, and 80. Heinz in his first college tournament shot a 235 behind rounds of 77, 81, and 77. 
 
Three more fall competitions loom ahead for the Conqs with the next action as a team coming in early October at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational hosted by Wichita State University at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton on October 6th-8th. A few Conqs will compete individually at the Central Plains Invitational in Salina on September 23rd-24th next week.
