Box Score 2 The Dodge City baseball team was looking for a bounce back after a rough start to the series against Hutchinson at home but a road trip to Hutchinson unfortunately saw some more struggles as the Conquistadors dropped a pair of contests 8-7 and 13-8 to get swept in the series.
The losses move the Conqs to 26-16 on the season and 11-9 in KJCCC action, also marking only the third KJCCC series under Head Coach, Brett Doe that the Conqs did not at least win one game in.
The Conqs will step out of conference play early next week to continue their season as they will travel to La Junta, Colorado for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16th against Otero starting at 1:00 pm.
Game 1 – Lost 8-7 at Hutchinson
The Conqs would open the day strong looking to bounce back from a rough start to the series at home as the Conqs got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the second on a two-RBI single by Peter Tassler. The lead grew for the Conqs in the top of the fourth behind a five-run with RBI singles by Cooper Schneider and Joseph Dominguez spearheading the offense. Lead 7-0 entering the bottom of the fourth the Conqs would see Hutchinson score eight unanswered to snag the game in their favor. Hutchinson Blue Dragons scoring started in the bottom of the fourth with three runs and then they with two runs in the bottom of the fifth made it 7-5. The lead slipped away for the Conqs in the bottom of the sixth as Hutchinson tallied three runs and the Conqs would be unable to score in the seventh falling 8-7 in game three of the series.

Game 2 – Lost 13-8 at Hutchinson
In the series finale, it was the offensive output of the Blue Dragons in the mid-innings that would do in the Conqs along with four errors by the Conqs. Blue Dragons grabbed the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first but the Conqs answered to take the lead in the top of the fourth plating four runs. The Conqs would get an RBI double by Tassler to highlight the four-inning fourth inning. Hutchinson would respond with a run in the fourth themselves and then sixth in the fifth to lead 8-4. A Nick Mesquita RBI double got another run across the plate for the Conqs in the sixth to draw within three. Hutchinson once again countered this time with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and then two more in the seventh to lead 13-5. In the top of the eighth, the Conqs pushed back with a solo home run by Schneider and two more runs but it would not be enough as the Conqs ultimately dropped the series finale 13-8.
Multi-hit games from Mesquita and Harmon paced the Conqs in the loss, as Mesquita was 2-3 with a run scored, two RBI, and a double, while Harmon was 2-4 with a run scored. Schneider finished 1-2 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a home run.
