Dodge City softball continued KJCCC play by traveling to Hutchinson to take on the Blue Dragons for a doubleheader and the Conquistadors struggled to stay in the contests falling 10-2 and 16-1 both in five innings. 

The losses send the Conqs to 9-25 on the season and 9-15 in KJCCC action. 

After a weekend off the Conqs will be back in action against #15 Butler in Dodge City on Wednesday, April 17th. 

Game 1 – Lost 10-2 at Hutchinson (5 innings) 
The Conqs would struggle to stick with the offensive output of Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons took the early lead on the day plating three runs in the first and four more in the second to lead 7-0. In the top of the fourth the Conqs would get on the board as Ally Hamblin got on base via a single and Emily Yelton then belted a two-run home run to make it 7-2. Hutchinson answered the Conqs runs in the fourth with three of their own and would go on to grab the 10-2 win. 

The Conqs in the loss were led by Yelton at the plate as she was 2-2 with a run scored, two RBI, and a home run. Camryn Lenz added a 1-3 game with a double, while Reneau Ratzlaff and Hamblin each recorded a hit. 

Josie Oakley, Lenz, and Toni Gabaldon each tossed at least one inning in the loss. 

Game 2 – Lost 16-1 at Hutchinson (5 innings) 
The Conqs' struggles continued in the second game of the day while Hutchinson continued to find plenty of offense. The first inning saw the Hutchinson take the early lead again as the Blue Dragons plated four runs in the first inning. The Conqs got on the board in the top of the third with a pair of doubles as Ratzlaff notched a double and came around to score on a double by Lenz. Hutchinson however would counter with 11 runs in the bottom of the third and another in the fourth leading to a 16-1 final in five innings. 

Offensively the Conqs had just four hits with Ratzlaff going 2-2 with a run scored and a double, while Lenz was 1-2 with a double and an RBI. Madison Kacer tallied the lone other hit for the Conqs. Gabaldon and Lenz both saw action inside the circle.
