February 01, 2024

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Dodge City softball wrapped up their first road trip of the year taking on a strong #11 ranked NJCAA Division II team in Murray State located in Oklahoma.

The Conquistadors continued their early season struggles ultimately falling 16-0 and 13-0 both in five innings to Murray State.

The Conqs will look for their first win of the season when they travel to Denison, Texas next week to compete at the Winter Blast Tournament on February 9th-10th as they are set to play four games in the tournament.

Game 1 – Lost 16-0 at Murray State
The first game of the day saw Murray State grab the early lead against the Conqs as it was six runs in the bottom of the first for Murray State to take early control. Murray State would go on to tally five more in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth. The Conqs offense struggled to get going as Josie Oakley reached on a walk in the fourth and Sayge Salmans got the Conqs a base runner in the fifth reaching on an error, but it was not enough as the Conqs fell 16-0 in five innings.

Game 2 – Lost 13-0 at Murray State
Game two of the doubleheader was much of the same unfortunately for the Conqs as Murray State plated runs early and the Conq's offensive woes continued. Reneau Ratzlaff would lead off the game in the first with a single but was stranded at third and Murray State would then plate three runs in the bottom of the first. Murray State grew their lead in the second behind three home runs which led to eight runs in the inning and then tallied one more run in the third and fourth innings each. The Conqs got two more hits in the contest as Camryn Lenz led the third inning off with an infield hit and Toni Gabaldon recorded a single in the fourth. The Conqs however were unable to score and fell 13-0 in five innings.
