Men's Golf Wraps Fall Season With Sixth Place Team Finish at NJCAA National Preview

The fall season has ended for the Dodge City men's golf team, and they put together a strong performance at the NJCAA National Preview at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. 
 
Familiar with the course the Conquistadors would play above their #14 ranking and beat several teams ranked ahead of them finishing tied for sixth. The Conqs would put together a three-round team score of 918 (+54) finishing only nine strokes back of a third-place finish. In the first round, the Conqs posted a +5 293 score but would battle the elements and windy conditions over the next two rounds seeing it affect the scores as the Conqs posted rounds of 311 and 314. 
 
Leading the Conq performances was Rhys Nicholas who placed 12th out of 80 golfers recording a score of 227 (+11). Nicholas posted rounds of 73, 75, and 79 for the tournament. 
 
Jack McKie and Joao Iglesias finished with a 229 (+13) score to tie for 15th place. McKie recorded rounds of 75, 77, and 77 while Iglesias posted rounds of 72, 77, and 80. 
 
With a score of 233 (+17), Drew Heinz tied for 28th place, shooting rounds of 73, 82, and 78. Colby Hays and Luke Shelton finished with a score of 244 (+28) for the tournament each and tied for 58th. Hays recorded rounds of 80, 84, and 80, while Shelton shot 78, 86, and 80. Blake Strong finished out the Conq performances, placing 65th with a score of 251 (+35), as he posted rounds of 79, 89, and 83. 
 
The Conqs now turn their attention to the spring, when they will compete for a top finish in the Jayhawk Conference, Region 6, and District to earn another trip to the National Championship.
