Dodge City men's golf competed at the Newman Invite in a field full of NCAA Division II programs and finished sixth as a team behind a two-round score of 606 (+38).
The Conquistadors posted a 297 in the first round while following that up with a 309 in the second round.
Leading the way for the Conqs was once again
Rhys Nicholas who finished sixth with a 147 (+5) score posting rounds of 72 and 75.
Joining Nicholas in the Top 10 was
Joao Iglesias who tied for 10th place after finishing with a score of 149 (+7) behind rounds of 71 and 78.
Luke Shelton finished with a score of 154 posting rounds of 78 and 77 to place 22nd at the tournament, while
Drew Heinz tied for 27th with a score of 158 carding rounds of 76 and 82.
Blake Strong and
Colby Hays each tied for 42nd place with a score of 163, as Strong shot rounds of 84 and 79 and Hyas posted rounds of 82 and 81.
Winston Knobloch finished the Conq performances placing tied for 48th with a 174 score, shooting rounds of 77 and 97.
Former Conq, Cooper Scheck who now competes at Fort Hays State won the tournament with a 139, while several other former Conqs also competed. Cole Streck for Fort Hays State tied for 7th (148),
Theo Juhl for Pittsburg State tied for 34th (160), and Davan Smith for Northwest Oklahoma State tied for 38th (161).
The Conqs will wrap up the fall season on October 24th and 25th when they compete at the NJCAA National Preview at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton.
