Volleyball Earns First Win Over Seward County Since 2011

Box Score For the first time since 2011, the Dodge City volleyball team has claimed victory over Seward County snapping a 27-match losing streak to the Saints by beating Seward County in three-straight sets on the road. 
 
The Conquistadors earned the win on the road with a 25-16, 26-24, 25-20 win marking the second straight conference win and both in three sets improving the Conqs to 11-7 on the season and 2-1 in KJCCC play. 
 
The night started with a bang as the Conqs jumped on Seward County early leading 6-0 in the first set and would utilize that lead to go on and secure the first set 25-16. Set two was a different story than the first as the Saints held the early lead and had the advantage most of the set until the Conqs pushed late to swing the set in their favor and snatch it from the Saints 26-24. The Conqs would close out the match with 21 kills in the third set on their way to a 25-20 third-set win to take the match in straight sets. 
 
Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini paced the Conqs offensively finishing with 21 kills on a .341 hitting percentage adding three aces, nine digs, and a block. Madison Wallman had a career-high nine kills with six digs, while Agnes Hegardt chipped in eight kills. Sierra Scanlan continues to facilitate the Conqs offensive at setter recording 42 assists while adding six digs, two aces, and three kills, while Leisey Keli'i tallied 23 digs. 
 
It's a quick turnaround for the Conqs as they are back in action on Friday, September 15th at 6:30 pm at home as they will host Cloud County.
