Jade Perry Hired as Women's Basketball Assistant

The Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees has approved Jade Perry to become the new assistant basketball coach for the Lady Conquistadors this upcoming season.

In what has been a quick rise up the coaching ranks, Perry comes to the Conquistador athletic department boasting an impressive resume both as a coach and a former player. During her three years as an assistant coach for State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri, Perry helped eight student-athletes move on to continue their academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division I or Division II institutions. She was also integral in the development of seven NJCAA All-Region XVI athletes and nine MCCAC All-Conference athletes.

"In speaking with several different people, including former Maryland associate head coach and current Louisville head coach, Jeff Walz, Jade is going to be able to build relationships with our current and future student athletes rather quickly. Darren Pannier, the athletic director at State Fair also spoke highly of Jade, including her ability to teach the game and assist players with their academics," remarked Lady Conqs' head coach, Zach Loll.

Prior to her time at State Fair, Perry had spent time at every level of basketball, hold several different positions. Beginning her coaching career in 2011, Perry was the head coach at St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School in the District of Columbia. Leading her squad to an undefeated season in 2012, she was named the Region Coach of the Year in just her second season as a head coach. Following her stint at the high school level, Perry served as a graduate assistant at NAIA-affiliate Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska from August of 2013 to May of 2014.

In October of 2014 Perry was named an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, where her teams amassed a 48-11 record over her two seasons there. That success landed her the head coaching position at State College of New York at Canton, an NCAA Division III institution.

What may be most impressive, however, is the pedigree Perry brings to the table as a former student-athlete. The Maryland Terrapin alum was a key contributor on the 2006 National Championship team. During that same season she was also named the team's Most Improved Player, earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament honors, as well as Honorable Mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Team honors. Additionally, she earned the University of Maryland Senior Award in 2008.

"I'm excited to add such a quality person to our program. Jade has a huge personality that will be great for our program in many ways, primarily in recruiting and in the community. Her experience as a player and her different coaching stops adds a high level of basketball knowledge to Dodge City women's basketball. I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to hire an individual like Coach Perry," added Coach Loll.

Hailing from Central City, Kentucky, Perry played her high school basketball at Muhlenberg North High School and was inducted into the Muhlenberg County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. She earned her bachelor's degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland in 2008 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Education from Midland University.
