Dodge City, KS. -- The Dodge City Community College Men's Basketball team goes on the road Saturday to take on the Cougars of Barton Community College. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
The Series
· Since 2014-15, the Cougars hold a 6-3 advantage in the series.
· Barton has won three straight in the series.
· In the last meeting earlier this season, Jyrus Freels had a stellar performance for the Conquistadors.
He scored 29 points on 12-15 shooting and was a monster on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds.
Fast Break
· The Conqs have had a tough go of it in recent times. They are currently on a seven-game losing streak.
· Dodge City lost both last week. They lost an 11-point contest to Pratt Community College 79-68.
They lost to Northwest Kansas Technical College 88-73 in a game that was tightly contested until late in the second half.
· Dodge City was able to head into the locker room for halftime down two, 36-34 against Northwest.
Northwest went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half and DC3 struggled shooting the remainder of the game to
allow for a 15-point defeat.
As a team, DC3 shot 37.2% from the field, 14.8% from the three-point line and 68.8% from the free throw line. They were
outrebounded 47-41.
· Jyrus Freels was the leader for the Conquistadors. He scored 19 points on 8-12 shooting and added 8 rebounds.
· The Conqs really struggled shooting 3's in the defeat to Prat and that wound up being a major factor in the defeat.
DC3 shot 38.1% from the field, 18.5% from three and 65.2% from the free throw line and were outrebounded 45-34.
· Jyrus Freels is leading the Jayhawk Conference in both points and rebounds with 20.6 points per game,
and 10.7 rebounds per game.
Scouting Barton Community College
· Barton owns a 20-4 overall record. They have almost unbeatable at home. They have a 10-2 record on their home floor.
· As a team, Barton shot 60% from the field, and 62% from the free throw line last week.
· The Cougars have won four consecutive games coming into Saturday's contest.
