Conquistador Men's Basketball Hopes to End Season on a High Note

(Dodge City, KS.) -- The Dodge City Community College Men's Basketball team closes the regular season with little to play for but pride. They are already unable to qualify for the Region VI tournament but look to end the season on a high note and get some momentum headed into next season. They host Pratt Community College on Wednesday for sophomore night and then go on the road to face Northwest Kansas on Saturday.

Vs. Pratt
 
  • Since 2014-15, it has been fairly even with Pratt holding a 5-4 edge in the matchups.
  • In the loss earlier in the year, Jyrus Freels scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds.

Vs. Northwest Kansas
 
  • The Conqs and Mustangs have each won 2 of the 4 matchups since 2014-15.  
  • In the prior matchup this year, the Conqs fell 88-73.
  • In that matchup, Kevin Howard had a double-double, scoring 16 points and adding 12 rebounds.   

Fast Break
 
  • After starting 7-10, the Conquistadors have lost 11 straight.
  • Dodge City fell in all three of their games last week. They were defeated soundly in all 3 games against Seward, Hutchinson, and Garden City.
  • Against Seward, the Conqs fell 111-80.
  • The game against Hutchinson saw the Conqs struggle on both sides of the ball, falling 94-53.
  • Against Garden City the Conqs allowed the Broncbusters to shot over 62% from the field in the 2nd half.

Scouting

Pratt Community College
 
  • Pratt is 12-16 overall but just 5-14 in Jayhawk Conference play.
  • They had lost 5 of 6 before beating NWKTC in a closely contested 75-72 game.
  • Prior to the contest against the Mustangs, they lost their first two games of the week, 74-70, and 85-81 in overtime to Hutchinson, and Garden City.

Northwest Kansas Technical College
 
  • The Mustangs have had a decent season but struggled in the conference. They are 13-15 but 5-14 in KJCCC play.
  • They have lost 4 of 5.
  • They ended their 4 game losing streak by beating Garden City on Monday 82-74.
