Box Score 2 DODGE CITY, Kan. - Battling throughout game two, the Conqs lost two games to Seward County on Friday by scores of 7-0 and 12-4.
Brittany Kendall threw a complete game in game one, throwing all seven innings and allowing seven runs on ten hits. Of those seven runs, only five were earned.
The Conqs were able to stay away from the big inning in game one, giving up one run in the second, one run in the third, one run in the fourth, one run in the fifth and then three in the sixth. The Conqs were unable to get anything going in game one offensively as Sam Montano had the Conqs two hits.
Natalie Segovia got the call in game two and threw a total of 3.2 innings and allowed nine runs, none of which were earned.
Emily Stephenson and Kendall pitched in relief in game two throwing 2.0 and 1.1 innings respectively and allowing two runs each, but only one of Kendall's runs were earned.
After holding the Saints scoreless in the first inning,
Brittney Gonzalez got on and stole second base. Kendall and
Samantha Montano then laid down sacrifice bunts to score the first run of the game and give Dodge City a 1-0 lead.
The Saints followed up the Conqs run with four runs of their own and took a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the second. The Conqs responded well in the bottom half, scoring one run on a single from
Brooklyn Botts and then two more on a triple to left field from Gonzalez to tie the game at four.
A leadoff home run in the top of the third gave the lead back to the Saints, 5-4. The Saints then added one more in the fourth to extend the lead to 6-4.
The sixth inning is where Seward pulled away, scoring five runs in the inning and pushing their lead to 11-4. The Saints were then able to get one more run with a leadoff home run in the seventh to extend the lead to 12-4. The Conqs could not get anything going in the bottom half, falling, 12-4.
The Conqs are now 7-13 overall on the year and 2-6 in KJCCC play. The Conqs will be in action again on the spring break roadtrip as they travel to North Arkansas College on March 13, at 2 p.m.
