Box Score EL DORADO, Kan. – Turnovers were the story on Wednesday night as the Conquistadors committed 33 turnovers in the game, accounting for 32 of Butler's 68 points as the Conqs fell, 68-44.
Rylee Burris led the way, going 4-for-6 from the field and scoring 14 points.
Addison Rowley was the only other Conquistador in double-figures with 12.
Allie Baker and
Kaylee Dale both had seven rebounds a piece on the night.
Addison Rowley was perfect from the field in the first half, knocking down all four shots including two three-pointers.
Early in the first quarter,
Addison Rowley knocked down two three-pointers to give the Conqs a lead, but a 12-3 run to end the quarter by the Grizzlies ended the quarter with Butler leading, 17-9.
In the second quarter, the Conqs quickly cut the lead to three, but Dodge City then did not hit a field goal for the next six minutes as the Grizzlies pushed their lead back to 30-22. By the end of the quarter, Butler held a 34-26 lead.
Rylee Burris came out hot to start the second half, knocking down back-to-back treys to cut the lead to 34-32 with 8:11 to play in the quarter. The Grizzlies then took over, outscoring the Conqs for the remainder of the quarter, 20-4.
In the fourth quarter, the Conquistadors could not get anything going, as the Grizzlies continued to add to their lead, winning the game, 68-44.
Dodge City moves to 9-14 on the year and 6-14 in KJCCC play. They will be in action again on Saturday as they host Barton at 1 p.m. The Cougars won the first meeting, 52-75.
