Conqs Fall to Indian Hills in Wells Fargo Cup

Box Score OTTUMWA, Iowa - Despite taking an early lead, the Dodge City women's soccer team fell to Indian Hills in overtime by a score of 2-1 on Sunday.

"I am very heart-broken personally and even more heart-broken for the ladies," head coach Steward Bortey said. "It's not a good way to lose. The girls dug deeper and fought with every strength they had. There is a lot of heart on this team. We win and we lose as a team. We will bounce back from this, it's not the end of the road for us. We have a lot in us."

Dodge City struck first in the eighth minute on a goal by Begona Rodriguez Bravo on an assist from Siobhan Longmore to take a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the Conqs scored, a breakaway goal by Indian Hills in the 12th minute tied the game at one, sending the teams to the locker room knotted up at one.

Neither team could capitalize on chances in the second half, as both team went scoreless for the full 45 minutes.

In overtime, both teams remained scoreless for the first 15 minutes of overtime.

Indian Hills was able to put a ball in the back of the net with four seconds left in the second overtime to win the game 2-1 and take home the Wells Fargo Cup.
