Laia Darnaculleta Rey Earns KJCCC DI Goalkeeper of the Week

October 20, 2026

Last week, the Dodge City women's soccer team earned two big points in the conference standings with a pair of ties against Barton and Hutchinson, and the play of goalkeeper, Laia Darnaculleta Rey, earned her KJCCC Division I Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Rey and the Conquistadors played to a 1-1 tie on the road in Great Bend against Barton, earning a point for the first time since 2017 in Great Bend. Then, to cap the week, the Conqs snapped a 35-game losing streak against Hutchinson with a scoreless draw against the Blue Dragons. Rey recorded eight saves in the win over Barton and then had three saves against Hutchinson, including two critical kick saves in one-on-one situations against the Blue Dragons.

This season, Rey has started and played in all but one game for the Conqs in goal and has 54 saves this season, which ranks fourth in the KJCCC.

Rey is the second Conq women's soccer player to earn Player of the Week honors this season as Adriana Garcia Caceres earned the honors earlier in the season.

The Conqs look to finish the regular season strong with their final two regular season contests this week, taking on Seward County on Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00 pm and then facing Garden City on the road on Saturday, October 24th at 11:00 am.
