Box Score 2 SEMINOLE, Okla. - With two wins on Friday, the Dodge City has now won six straight matches for the first time since 2010 when the Conqs rattled off 10 wins in a row. Dodge City was able to take down Oklahoma Baptist University in five sets by scores of 26-24, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25 and 15-8 before defeating Seminole State College in four sets by scores of 17-25, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14.
Against OBU,
Gabriella Valdez led the team with 37 assists while tammate
Alex Stecklein added a team-high 15 digs.
Jaylen Pegues and
Rachel Slattery combined for 26 kills with 13 a piece while Pegues collected a double-double, also adding 11 digs.

Raquel Valdez and Stecklein all collected at least one service ace with
Gabriella Valdez collecting two,
Raquel Valdez collecting three and Stecklein adding one.
All five matches were extremely competitive, as the Conqs came out just a little slow and were not playing to the best of their ability. After winning the first two matches by a combined seven points, OBU took the third and fourth sets by scores of 22-25 and 23-25. Heading into the fifth set, the Conqs came out strong and took the final set 15-8.
In game two,
Gabriella Valdez again led with 35 assists. Pegues also collected another double-double, with 16 digs and 12 kills while
Raquel Valdez and
Rachel Slattery added 10 kills.
Seminole State came out strong in set one taking the set by a score of 25-17. Coming off the set loss, Dodge City caught fire and won the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14 to win the match, 3-1.
"I think the long road trip got to us a little bit," head coach
Kamri Nehls said. "It took us a while to get in our rhythm which is why I think we went to multiple sets in each game. We were aggressive offensively and our block was solic. Overall, two good wins on the road.
The Conqs are now 14-7 on the year and will be in action again on Monday, Sept. 25, as they travel to Bethany College to take on their JV squad at 6:30 p.m.
