For the fourth straight year, the Dodge City volleyball team capped their season in the region tournament semifinals as they fell in three sets to Barton – 25-22, 25-17, 25-16.
The loss ends the season for the Conquistadors, who finish 16-14 and fourth in the KJCCC.
The night opened with a back-and-forth start to the match as each team would hold an early lead multiple times, but never more than one, until Barton went on a 4-0 run to make it 12-8. After a Conq timeout, the Conqs answered and push the set to even and then a three-point lead at 19-16 as they would outscore Barton 11-4 from the timeout. The Conqs were the first to 20 in the first set, but Barton again had a run in them to draw even at 20-20, and then would take a 22-20 lead. The Conqs responded with a double block and a
Rayssa Da Silva ace to tie it at 22-22; however, Barton scored the next three to take the first set 25-22. Set two saw the Conqs fall behind early at 5-1 but would battle back to tie the set at 10-10. Barton responded with a 4-0 run before a Conqs timeout, and then the Cougars stretched the run to 10-1, leading 20-11 on their way to a 25-17 second set. The third set would see the Conqs fall behind again early, and they would be unable to comeback, dropping the set 25-16 to fall in the match.
Amariah White finished with eight kills and seven block assists, as she capped her career ranked second in career blocks (258) and ninth in career kills (451).
Kayla Cantrill posted eight kills and 11 digs in the matchup, while
Chelsea Durbridge tallied 25 assists to give her 1,009 on the season, making her only the sixth player in school history to tally over 1,000 assists in a single season.
Sunni Skipps added 11 digs and five kills.
The Conqs close out the 2025 season in the region semifinals for the fourth straight year and finished with a 16-14 overall record.
