Box Score OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Coming off a strong performance to begin the year at Tabor College, the women's soccer team fell to Johnson County Community College by a score of 2-0 on Friday evening.
The Conqs were able to take eight shots on the game, with five from
Siobhan Longmore, two from
Begona Rodriguez Bravo and one shot from
Liliana Vasquez. None of these shots needed to be saved by the Cavaliers.
Courtney Turner had a game-high 10 saves, while
Iliana Alvarado was able to collect two saves.
Little mistakes were a major key in the Conqs 2-0 loss.
"I'm proud of my girls," head coach
Steward Bortey said. "They fought hard. Little mistakes cost us the game. We had people step up and show the team what they are made of. Regardless of the result, the ladies played a great game. I am proud to be a part of this team. It's a great day to be a Conquistador."
The Conqs are now 1-1 on the year and will play again on Sunday as they travel to Kansas City Kansas Community College at 5 p.m.
