Box Score DODGE CITY, Kan. - Despite Addison Rowley collecting a career-high 21 points and tying a career-high with seven rebounds, the Conquistadors could not find a way to take down No. 23 Cowley College on Saturday afternoon in the Student Activity Center.
Rowley was able to go 7-for-11 from the field and 5-for-7 from the three point line to collect her 21 points, while Allie Baker was the team's next leading scorer with eight points.
The game got started off on the right note as Amour'ee Morrison knocked down a three-pointer to start the game, but two minutes later, Kaitlyn Potter dropped her first of six three-pointers in the game to tie it at three. Cowley then grabbed a lead and after extending the lead to five, the Conqs fought back and took the lead back on another three from Rowley. The Tigers were able to quickly grab the lead back and were able to extend the lead to three, 21-18 with two free throws just before the end of the quarter.
In the first minute of the second quarter, Cowley pushed their lead to seven, but the Conqs would not go away, eventually tying the game at 25 as Rowley knocked down a big three with the assist from Rylee Burris. Dodge City was able to reach a three point lead, but the Tigers then fired back, grabbing a two point lead with 30 seconds left in the half. Just before the buzzer, Ashley Nelson found the bottom of the net to send the Conquistadors into the locker room trailing, 35-33.
Rowley knocked down a shot to start the second half, but the Tigers then went on a 10-0 run before Allie Baker hit a three to make the score 45-38. Dodge City scored just five points the remainder of the third quarter, as the Tigers took a 52-43 lead into the final quarter.
The Conquistadors kept battling for the rest of the game, but could not break through as Cowley College held their lead and eventually reached their largest lead of 12 with nine seconds left in the game. Dodge City could not get a shot off in the final seconds, falling to No. 23 Cowley, 65-53.
The Conqs are 4-7 overall on the year and move to 2-7 in conference play. They will be in action for their final game before Christmas break next Thursday as they host Northwest Tech at 5:30 p.m., inside the Student Activity Center.
