After trading three's to start the game, the Panthers quickly grabbed a five point lead early in the first quarter. Just three minutes later, Burris knocked down her first three-pointer of the game to give Dodge City their first lead of the game, 12-10 with 4:19 left in the first quarter. Burris then hit another big three, followed by a layup from Taylor Lee to put the Conqs up by six with just over a minute left in the quarter. Two free throws by Neosho looked like it would end the half, but an unconventional three-point play as time expired by Ewing gave the Conqs a five point lead heading into the second quarter.
The Dodge City offense stayed hot to start the second quarter as an 8-0 run for the first two minutes quickly pushed the lead to 28-17. With 3:49 to play in the half, Kaylee Dale was able to knock down one-of-two free throws to give the Conqs their largest lead of the first have at 14, 36-22. The Panthers were able to cut the lead to seven late, but a jumper by Amour'ee Morrison at the buzzer on a pass from Dale extended the lead back to 10.
Both teams traded baskets for the first five minutes of the third quarter, but then both offenses went cold for the next 2:30 until a layup by Amy Zepeda of Neosho cut the lead to six. The Conqs would not let the Panthers back into the game, as Burris and Dale combined for a 6-0 run to get the lead back to 12 with 1:28 left in the quarter. Francheska Aguino then went to the hole and was fouled but finished the layup to complete the three-point play to push the lead to 15. After a three-pointer by the Panthers, Aguino found Allie Baker for a jumper with one second left to get the lead back to 14, 63-49.
Neosho was able to win the fourth quarter, but the Conqs would not break. With 4:08 left in the game, a layup by Beth Hawkins of Neosho cut the lead to seven, but a layup by Rowley pushed it back to nine. With under a minute to play, a free throw by the Panthers got the lead to eight, but that was the lowest it got as the Conqs finished the game, winning 82-74.
The Conqs are now 4-2 overall on the year and move to 2-2 in KJCCC play. Dodge City will be in action again on Saturday as they travel to Colby Community College at 6 p.m.
