GAME NOTES: DC3, Barton tangle to stay in KJCCC title hunt

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College men's basketball team has a chance to move back into fourth place in the KJCCC and stay in the hunt for a conference title when the Conquistadors travel to take on Barton 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

- The Conqs dropped to fifth in the KJCCC after falling to No. 13 Hutchinson (22-3, 11-3) 83-69 on Wednesday at home. They are a half game back of Barton for fourth and 2.5 games behind Hutchinson and Neosho for first place.
- The Conqs got 21 points from Lorenzo Dillard in the loss while Josh Boutte, last week's KJCCC Player of the Week, had 18 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks.
- The loss snapped DC3's three-game winning streak and a stretch of seven wins in its last eight games.

- DC3 leads the KJCCC in opponents' 3-point percentage (29.2) and is fifth in assists per game (14.5).
- The Conqs are looking for their first plus-.500 season in KJCCC play since 2006-07 when the Conqs went 12-4 and won the West Division (there are no divisions anymore).
- Coach Kyle Campbell (fourth season) is 66-54 overall and 25-34 in KJCCC play at DC3.

- Barton is coming off a 79-77 win on the road over Garden City on Wednesday, the Cougars' third win in its last four games (only loss was to Hutchinson over that stretch).
- Barton had four players reach double figures in the win over Garden City - Derek Dorn (16), Ezekiel Charles (15), Dequandre Dentmond (15) and Anthony Smith (14).
- In the loss to Dodge City earlier this season, only Charles reached double figures with 13 points. As a team, the Cougars shot a season-low 10 free throws (making only four).
