Box Score HOBBS, N.M. -- The Dodge City Community College baseball team's bats stayed hot while the Conquistadors also got a stellar start from
Jay Rawlins to compete a four-game sweep of New Mexico Military Institute with a 12-1 win Sunday at Ray Birmingham Thunderbird Field on the campus of New Mexico Junior College.
DC3 (6-0) pounded out 18 hits and scored in five of the run-rule shortened seven innings to increase its runs per game to 9.7 and batting average to .397.
Jake Pederson led the Conq hit parade by going 4-for-5 with four runs (improving his average to .462 on the season),
Richard Fullerton went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a triple,
Frankie Valle was 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs and
Talon Schaller was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run.
Colton Onstott and
Ricky Trammell each added two RBI in the game as well.
It was more than enough for Rawlins as the sophomore left-hander went all seven innings and gave up one unearned run on six hits with six strikeouts and a walk to pick up his first win of the season.
DC3 will remain in Hobbs one more day as the Conqs face the University of the Southwest junior varsity 1 p.m. Monday.
