GAME NOTES: Conqs look to stay in top 4 of KJCCC, host 5th-place Colby

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College men's basketball team attempts to keep as high a seed as possible while building momentum for the Region VI Tournament when the Conquistadors host Colby 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dodge City Civic Center.

- DC3 sits in fourth place in the conference with three games to go and would play the No. 13 seed at home in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament if the season ended today (which would be Independence). The Conqs are a game and a half ahead of fifth-place Barton and Colby and two games back of third-place Pratt.
- DC3 had a chance to move into a third-place tie with Pratt and own the tiebreaker over the Beavers on Saturday, but lost to Pratt 82-78 in a contest where the Conqs shot only 36.9 percent from the field and were 21-for-34 from the free-throw line (61.8 percent).
- DC3's Josh Boutte has a string of 16 consecutive double-figure scoring games and he's reached double figures in 24 of the Conqs' 27 contests this season. Boutte also has 16 double-doubles this season, including one in each of his last four games and 10 of his last 11. On the season he's averaging 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds.
- Jeremy Treaudo has picked up his scoring for the Conqs as of late, reaching double figures in each of his last five games to move his scoring average to 10.1 points per contest.
- Lorenzo Dillard, the Conqs' leading scorer at 16.6 per game, has had strong all-around games over his last three contests - averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

- The Conqs secured their first plus-.500 season in KJCCC play since 2006-07 when the Conqs went 12-4 and won the West Division (there are no divisions anymore).

- Colby moved into fifth place in the KJCCC after a tip in with 0.5 seconds left Monday gave the Trojans an 84-82 victory over Seward in overtime.
- The Trojans have alternated between wins and losses in their last six games with four of those contests decided by two points or less (2-2 in those contests).
- Colby guard Brian Starr is putting together an impressive all-around season as he leads the team in scoring (14.9), assists (7.6 - leads the KJCCC and is sixth in the KJCCC) and steals (1.8) and is second in rebounds (5.8).
