Box Score 2 SEMINOLE, Okla. - A 3-1 win over Brookhaven College was spoiled by a 3-0 defeat to Vernon College in the opening day of the Seminole State tournament at the Raymond Harber Field House on Friday, October 7th.
DC3 is now 16-11 on the season heading into tomorrow's action.
In the first match against Brookhaven College, the Conquistadors beat the Lady Bears by scores of 25-20, 18-25, 25-16, and 25-23.
"We played well against Brookhaven and were extremely aggressive on offensive and our block was solid" said head volleyball coach Kamri Nehsl in a postgame interview.
Tenille Tholen led in digs with 13 and had one service ace while
Daisy Cheek led in assists with 24 and three service aces.
Sada Smith had 14 kills to go along with 12 digs while
Raquel Valdez had 11 kills and six solo blocks.
The second match was a much different story, with Vernon taking the match by scores of 23-25, 15-25, 22-25.
"Vernon was a different story, as that was the quickest offense we have faced this year" said Nehls. "We spent most of the game on defense and have to have a short memory to get back to work tomorow."
Valdez had eight kills in the loss while Tholen would again have 13 digs. Cheek would finish with 11 assists.
The Conquistadors are back in action again tomorrow, with a match vs. Clarendon College at Noon before playing host Seminole State at 4 p.m.
