PREVIEW NOTES: Conq men hit the road to play Colby on Wednesday

DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City men's basketball team attempts to get back on track after having its four-game winning streak snapped last Wednesday when the Conquistadors travel to take on Colby 8 p.m. Wednesday.

- The Conqs are coming off another close loss - this one a 74-71 defeat to Garden City last Wednesday at home. DC3 rallied and took it first lead since early in the first half with 18 seconds left only to have Garden City score with nine seconds remaining to regain the lead and hold on for the victory.
- The Conqs are close to being undefeated in conference play as DC3's four KJCCC losses have either come in overtime (twice), by two points (once) or by three points (once).
- DC3 is 7-4 away from the Dodge City Civic Center this season.
- The Conqs are one of nine teams that are .500 or better in conference play and within a 3.5 games of first-place Neosho (the Conqs are three games back).

- The Conqs are looking for their first plus-.500 season in KJCCC play since 2006-07 when the Conqs went 12-4 and won the West Division (there are no divisions anymore).

- Colby is coming off a 72-65 loss to Garden City on the road on Sunday.
- Colby is the last team to defeat first-place Neosho - an 81-80 victory on the road on Dec. 5 (Neosho has won 10-straight since).
- While DC3 has struggled from the line, so has Colby as it is percentage points behind the Conqs in free throw percentage at 61.7 percent.
- Colby has six players averaging more than eight points per game - led by Brian Starr at 14.8 points per contest. Starr also leads the conference and is fifth in the nation in assists at 8.2 per game.
- Six-foot-10, 270-pound sophomore center Hassan Attia (from Alexandria, Egypt) is averaging just under a double-double at 9.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while also blocking 2.4 shots per contest. However, he's struggled at the charity stripe, hitting 25.5 percent (24-for-94) of his free-throw attempts.
- The Trojans not only lead the KJCCC in assists, they are first in rebounds (46.2), offensive rebounds (17.4) and rebound margin (10.9) per game.
