DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Coming off a key road victory over No. 10 Hutchinson on Wednesday, things don't get any easier for the Dodge City Community College men's basketball team as it hosts KJCCC-leading Barton 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dodge City Civic Center.
The Conqs (13-5, 4-3) extended their win streak to three games Wednesday by rallying from a 15-point deficit in the final 13 minutes to defeat the previously top-ranked Blue Dragons 85-79, who have dropped their last three games after starting the season 16-0.
Trailing 56-41, the Conqs went to the press and turned the tide of the game - outscoring Hutchinson 44-23 in the final 13 minutes.
Five players finished in double figures for Dodge City, led by
Jeremy Treaudo's 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
On the season
Lorenzo Dillard leads the Conqs in scoring (16.7) and assists (4.7) to go along with 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
Josh Boutte is averaging 14.7 points, a KJCCC-best 9.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks while
James Newton is averaging 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and a team-best 1.5 steals.
Barton (14-4, 6-1) is coming off an 84-65 victory over Garden City on Wednesday, bouncing back from its first KJCCC loss Saturday at Neosho.
Six-foot-4 Keith Mack leads the Cougars in scoring (13.3) while 5-foot-11 Derik Dorn is averaging 12.8 points and a team-high 3.0 assists, 6-foot-7 Dequandre Dentmond is averaging 10.9 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds and 6-foot-3 freshman Ezekial Charles is averaging 10.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
While Barton is third-to-last in scoring in the KJCCC (79.2), the Cougars are third in points allowed per game (65.8). Barton also leads the conference in steals (9.7) and free throws (30.5) per game.
As for the Conqs, they continue to lead the KJCCC in field goal percentage (49.6) and in opponents' 3-point percentage (27.0). DC3 is fifth in scoring (86.3) and ninth in points allowed per game (73.0).
The Conqs are looking for their first win over Barton since Jan. 7, 2012 - a span of seven games.
