Box Score ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas: #11 seed Dodge City men's basketball had a hard-fought overtime upset win over #6 seed Cowley County on Saturday, defeating the NJCAA Region VI Round One host 93-90.
Dodge was on the fence with a 40-30 outcome in the first half, but put in work in the second half. They led the second 55-45 to tie things up and extend the game to overtime. The Conqs took the 8-5 decision in the overtime period for the three-point narrow win.
Four players hit double-figures, including three who scored over 20 points apiece.
Sophomore
Ameer Jackson led the offensive with 30 points after knocking down 8-12 from the field, including two from long range and a 12-14 performance from the charity stripe. He led the team with three steals and collected seven boards for the Conqs.
Sophomores
Payton Pervier and
EJ Eaves both earned 21 points apiece.
Pervier posted his 19
th double-double of the season with 16 rebounds as well. He led the team with four blocks and added one steal and an assist to the sheet. Eaves sank nine from the field and went 3-4 from the stripe, along with adding two assists and five rebounds for DC3.
George Brock helped the effort with 11 points, two steals, three boards and one assist and
Raheem Watts added another seven rebounds, a steal and an assist on the day.
Overall, the Conqs hit 51.6 percent from the field with a 74.3 outing at the free throw line. They owned 32 of 62 shots from the field for the win.
DC3 now advances to the second round of the NJCAA Region VI tournament, playing #14 seed Cloud County (17-14) at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 in Wichita, Kansas at the Charles Koch Arena.
