Box Score GREAT BEND, Kansas: Barton men's basketball (19-5, 7-3) had just the edge they needed over Dodge City (14-10, 4-6), owning a one-point lead in both halves (35-34, 45-44) to gain a two-point 80-78 victory on the night.
DC3 put in a big effort with a 43.3 field goal percentage, 40.9 three-point field goal percentage after knocking down 9-22 from long range and a 70.8 free throw percentage on the night. Unfortunately, the opposition outshot the Conqs in all categories with a 49.1 field goal percentage, 66.7 percentage from the arc and an 80.0 percentage from the charity stripe.
Payton Pervier owned yet another double-double for DC3 with 16 points and 14 boards. Along with rebounds, he led the team with five blocks while posting a 4-9 performance from the field and going 8-11 from the stripe.
Dodge's bench played hard as well, adding 19 points throughout the game.
EJ Eaves led the team with 17 points on the night after knocking down 7-15 from the field and 3-5 from the free throw line. He added two assists and one steal while pulling down five off the boards.
George Brock led the team with six assists while adding 11 points after owning one from long range, three from the field total and going 4-4 from the free throw line.
Ameer Jackson and
Raheem Watts also collected double-digit points throughout with Jackson owning 14 points on a 4-7 performance from long range and Watts knocking down 13 points after posting a 4-8 performance from the field, and going 3-3 from the arc and 2-2 from the charity stripe.
Barton's Ahmad Walker was near unstoppable with 32 points and eight boards after going 4-4 from long range 10-13 from the stripe and hitting 9-12 total from the field.
DC3 will continue KJCCC play at Colby Community College on Saturday, February 7 at 7 p.m.
