Box Score GOODLAND, Kan. -- The Dodge City Community College women's basketball team had five players reach double figures in scoring as the Conquistadors cruised past Northwest Kansas Technical College 88-58 Tuesday on the road in their season opener.
"This was a great team win," DC3 coach
Mark James said. "The entire team contributed and that's always more fun and rewarding as a coach. We shot the ball extremely well."
DC3 (1-0) shot 53 percent from the field and 43 percent from beyond the arc in the victory.
Rachel Slattery led the way for DC3 with 22 points to go along with seven rebounds,
Talisha Presley had 20 points, including going 3-for-7 from 3-point range,
Amirah Greene had 11 points,
Alexus Johnson had 10 points and a pair of 3-pointers,
Brittany Leonard finished with 10 points while
Antania Newton was 3-for-4 from 3-point range for all nine of her points.
James added he was also pleased with his team's defensive effort.
"Defensively we were pretty stifling too," James said. "We have a long way to go, but tonight was a great start."
The Conqs hit the road to play a pair of games in Chicago starting Thursday against Wright College and finishing Friday against Daley College.
