DC3 Men’s Basketball Finishes 1-2 Last Week

DODGE CITY, Kansas: After starting the week off with a 70-69 victory over Lamar Community College, DC3 men’s basketball went into the Indian Hills Classic with high hopes. Unfortunately, their strong play couldn’t match up with the opposition, causing two losses, first 104-88 to tournament hosts Indian Hills and then to close things out with an 82-69 loss to Marshalltown.

In Tuesday's victory over Lamar, Ameer Jackson led the Conqs with 20 points after shooting 6-17 from the field, 5-8 from long range and 3-4 from the charity stripe while owning three assists for DC3.  The posted a 42.9 percentage from the field, 33.3 from long range and 69.2 from the free throw line.

Both Payton Pervier and Raheem Watts were next in line with 13 points apiece.  Pervier snagged his seventh double-double in the contest after pulling down 12 boards and owned four blocks, one steal and one assist against the opposition.  Watts put in six from the field and went 1-2 from the stripe for his 13.

Brett O'Neil put in some impressive work with 13 total assists on the day.  He also tallied three rebounds and three steals for the Conqs.

In Friday's loss to Indian Hills, DC3 posted a 48.4 percentage from the field after hitting 31-64, 38.5 from long range after owning 5-13 from the arc and went 21-33 from the free throw line for a 63.6 free throw percentage.

DC3 collected 46 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers, 10 second chance points and 32 off the bench points.

Jackson and EJ Eaves led the team with 23 points on the day.  Eaves shot 7-14 from the field and hit 9-12 from the free throw line while posting four rebounds and four assists for DC3.  Jackson collected seven rebounds and three steals while hitting 7-14 from the field, owning two from long range and going 7-9 from the stripe for his 23 points.

Pervier led the team with nine rebounds and seven blocks on the night while also collecting 11 points after putting down five from the field and one from the stripe in the effort.

George Brock owned 14 points for the Conqs after putting down five from field goal range, two from the arc and shooting 2-3 from the free throw line.  O'Neil led the team with five assists on the night as well.

To close out the weekend, DC3 fell 82-69 to Marshalltown after posting a 43.6 percentage from the field after shooting 34-78, 53.8 from long range after hitting 7-13 from the arc and went 84.6 from the stripe after collecting 11-13.

Brock led the team with 18 points on the day after hitting seven from the field and four from the arc.  He also owned four assists for the Conqs.

Jackson was good for 10 points after owning a 4-9 performance from the field, and 2-3 from the free throw line. 

Pervier garnered his eighth double-double after owning 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Conqs.  He led the team with six blocks along with his 10 boards.  O'Neil led the team again with seven assists while Watts was good for eight boards and LaDamion Keys and Dalton Haist posted five rebounds on the night.

On the season, the Conqs rank 11th in the nation in blocks per game, 6th in home attendance and 9th in home attendance average.  Pervier ranks 3rd nationally with 49 total blocks, 5th with 93 defensive rebounds, 11th with 131 total rebounds and 15th with 10.9 rebounds per game.

The Conqs continue the 2014-15 season this Tuesday, December 9 at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center as they take on Friends University JV.
